Medical Teams International Offers Free Tours of the REAL. LIFE. Exhibit

Medical Teams International logoMedical Teams International Exhibit provides a powerful look at real life circumstances of millions around the globe

Medical Teams International is offering free tours of its REAL. LIFE. Exhibit throughout the spring and summer. The exhibit, appropriate for children age ten and older, takes approximately 90 minutes to navigate from start to finish.

The REAL. LIFE. Exhibit is a multi-sensory display that allows people to experience what real life is like for people affected by disaster, conflict and poverty around the world. The walk-through panorama highlights the needs of families in six different locations and situations around the world, from a refugee camp in Uganda, to the devastation wrought by the Japanese tsunami in 2011. Yet it also demonstrates real hope by showing what Medical Teams International volunteers and partners are doing to aid the suffering.

“The exhibit viscerally drives home what millions of people around the globe experience every day,” said Medical Teams International VP of Programs Joe DiCarlo, who spends much of his time traveling with Medical Teams’ volunteers and partners. “We took as our inspiration the Chinese proverb “Tell me, and I forget. Show me, and I may remember. Let me experience it, and I will understand.”

Jeff Engh recently toured the REAL. LIFE. Exhibit. “It was a very profound experience. I expected it to be intellectually … however, I was unprepared for how intellectually, emotionally and spiritually impacted I was,” Engh said. “It was impossible for me to separate from the reality of what I had just observed. I found I needed to be alone for a while to reflect on what I had just seen; I realized how changed my reality of the world had just become.”
