The Bulleit Bourbon BBQ Competition Returns To Dusty’s Bar & BBQ July 31 – August 2
WHISTLER, BC July 16, 2015 – The Bulleit Bourbon Canadian National BBQ Championships is quite the mouthful of a name, but a tasty one to be sure. The sauciest competition on the Pacific Northwest BBQ circuit is returning to Dusty’s Bar & BBQ in Whistler’s Creekside July 31 through August 2. The three day event will titillate the taste buds while the Bulleit Barn Burner Concert Series is sure to help people work up an appetite.

“Summer is defined by BBQ and there is no better place to get good BBQ than at the Bulleit Bourbon National Championships,” says Joshua Kearns, Dusty’s Bar & BBQ Manager. “Guests can spend all day at the competition sampling, but then the party really gets started this year when the Bulleit Barn Burner Concert Series kicks off in the evenings.”
Competitions include the Backyard Burger Championship, where contestants battle it out to prove who flips the meanest patty; and the Budweiser King of the Grill, a best dish showdown. The CASI Canadian International Chili Championship and the Ravenswood Cork & Pork, a wine and pork pairing event, challenge competitors to think outside the BBQ. The main event, which determines the Grand Champion, is a cook-off of pork butt, beef brisket, chicken, and ribs. The weekend may seem like it is all fun and games but with over $14,000 in cash and prizes and the chance to win an invitation to the BBQ World Championships in Las Vegas on the line, the stakes are high.
The activities begin on Friday July 31, with the ticketed all-u-can-eat ribs extravaganza, WHOLE LOTTA RIBS. The dinner event will be followed by the first show of the Bulleit Barn Burner Concert Series, where Electric Farmers will bring the house down.
On Saturday, the good times keep rolling. During the BBQ competition, BBQ samples will be available by donation for spectators with proceeds going to Playground Builders, an organization that builds play spaces for children in war torn countries. BBQ competitors can win entry into next year’s event by collecting the most donations. Bulleit Bourbon brand ambassador Joel Virginillo, will be on the Dusty’s patio offering up fresh cocktail ideas in the early afternoon. There will also be free live music and free family entertainment.
The Bottomless BBQ Buffet on Saturday night is an all-u-can-eat feast of BBQ chicken and suckling pork with all the fixings. Afterwards, the Bulleit Barn Burner Concert Series, featuring Will Ross, gives diners the opportunity to dance their dinner off.
On Sunday, there will be a $1 pancake breakfast benefiting the Whistler Rotary Club followed by the final leg of the competitions. The Bulleit Bourbon Canadian National BBQ Champion will be crowned but the party doesn’t stop there. Free live music carries on through the afternoon until the Bulleit Barn Burner Concert Series starts up again featuring Guitar Doug, the Hairfarmers, and Whole Lotta Led.
