The Monster Energy Shred Show wrapped up yesterday at the World Ski & Snowboard Festival (WSSF) in Whistler, BC. The stacked field of riders did not hold back, putting on an amazing two day show under sunny skies in the Nintendo Terrain Park on Blackcomb Mountain.
Mark McMorris (CAN) proved why he is considered one of the best snowboarders in the world taking first place at the Slopestyle on April 18. His third run score of 96.00 positioned him at the top of the podium and earned him a $10,000 cheque. Kyle Mack (USA) started his day off strong with a first run score of 93.00, allowing him to hang on to second place and earning him $7,000. Rounding out the podium in a close third to take home $5,000 was Maxence Parrot (CAN) with a second run score of 92.50.
Scot Brown and Zoe Bergermann took the wins at the Boarderstyle event on April 17. As usual, the head-to-head boardercross-style race was not for the faint of heart, testing competitors racing, pond-skimming and big air skills.
On the men’s side, it was Scot Brown who managed to stay out front during both the time trials and the finals to take home first place and $3,000. Harrison Gray grabbed second place and $1,500 and rounding out the podium in third place for $500 was Nev Lapwood.
A separate women’s category was introduced to the Boarderstyle this year where Zoe Bergermann took a commanding lead in both semi-finals and finals landing her in first place for a grand prize of $1,000. Brooke Voigt took home second place and $300, and in third was Marie France Roy earning $200.
