Bellevue Park Rangers Take to YouTube to Hassle Drone Flyers – Don’t They Have Something Else to Do?
A year ago last March 1st, I shot this video in an empty Downtown Park. There may have been a total of 15 people in the entire park, none even close to where I was flying.
Just today I got a comment on my YouTube account from an anonymous Bellevue Park Ranger:
Nice video, and very cool idea for real estate! However we do have to let you know that Bellevue Parks doesn’t allow drones or another remote controlled devises to be used in the parks per Bellevue City Code:
3.43.300 Operation of motorized models prohibited. It is unlawful for any person to operate any motorized model car, aircraft, rocket or watercraft in any park, except as authorized by the city manager or his or her designee. (Ord. 4480 § 19, 1993; Ord. 4071 § 1, 1989.) 1.16.020 Violation of ordinance a misdemeanor. The violation of any ordinance is a misdemeanor unless otherwise provided by ordinance. Each violation may be prosecuted by the authorities of the city in the name of the people of the state of Washington or the city of Bellevue, or may be redressed by civil action at the option of the authorities of the city, or both. (Ord. 4440 § 2, 1992; Ord. 2079 § 3, 1974.) Thank you for your cooperation. It seems to me that the Bellevue Park Rangers probably have enough to do in their job so that they need not hassle a citizen over a video made over a year ago. Don’t you have some real work to do? Or maybe you want to watch my drone take video in another Bellevue Park? Here you go:
