Seattle-based Cybersecurity firm, Praesidio, announces two of the company’s top executives selected to speak at security and FinTech conferences this month

Praesidio logoPraesidio has announced that two of its top executives will speak at nationally recognized cybersecurity and fintech conferences this month.
Praesidio’s CTO, Sean Cassidy, will take the stage at FinDEVr New York on March 29th-30th. FinDEVr New York will showcase dozens of the latest tools, platforms, APIs, and case studies from cutting-edge technology companies like Praesidio, who are helping to create the future of fintech. Cassidy will discuss role-based behavior analytics and network anomalies as indicators of an attack.
Summit attendees will learn the seven models used for behavior pattern analysis, as Cassidy discusses why guarding against these anomaly types is no longer a ‘nice to have’ but a necessity due to increasing regulations and an uptick in the volume and severity of attacks.
I’m glad to be speaking at FinDEVr New York on this topic because I feel that anomaly detection is something everyone is talking about, but very few are doing – or doing right. It’s a complex and interesting topic that financial companies need to pay attention to,” said Praesidio CTO, Sean Cassidy.
Machine learning algorithms are revolutionizing the way security teams distinguish between legitimate user behavior on their company’s network, versus unknown attackers. By analyzing event data across an entire network of users, apps and devices, and blending that with contextual reference points such as geolocation, device type and time of day, distinct patterns emerge that allow companies to protect against unknown threats and comply with emerging cybersecurity requirements, such as those set by the FFIEC.
“Praesidio is an innovative Security Data Platform company focused exclusively on financial institutions, bringing a holistic approach to cybersecurity management with real-time analytics that prove how secure a financial institution really is,” said Eric Mattson, CEO of Finovate. “By showcasing the latest tools, technologies, APIs, platforms, case studies and tutorials, FinDEVr hopes to help CTOs, developers, software architects, UX designers, VPs of engineering, product managers and other technologists create the next wave of fintech innovation. Which is why we are excited to have Sean Cassidy, Praesidio’s CTO, present at this year’s New York conference. Cassidy’s presentation on role-based behavior analytics is sure to shed light on a very hot, but complex, topic as today’s FinTech companies look to employ better threat detection strategies and stay one step ahead of emerging trends and regulations.”
Praesidio is also pleased to announce that Director of Marketing, Rani Khan, will speak at the 2016 Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS) conference on March 31st-April 1st in Dallas, TX.  Khan will deliver what the WiCyS event calls a lightning talk on her knowledge of What It Takes To Start Up A Startup. She will discuss how to make it in the startup world and address what’s essential for a newly burgeoning cybersecurity company.
Cybersecurity is one of the fastest growing technology careers and the number of companies and venture capitalist dollars backing it indicates it’s a great space to be in.Praesidio is a diverse company that brings together a seasoned financial team and creative technologists, this shows in the solutions we bring to the table for our customers. I am excited to share my observations about launching a startup with women looking to grow their careers or begin their own cybersecurity venture,” said Praesidio’s Director of Marketing, Rani Khan.
According to WiCyS, despite the growing demand and tremendous opportunities in the job market, cybersecurity remains an area where there is a significant shortage of skilled professionals. Even more alarming is the lack of women’s representation in the security field. WiCyS works to recruit, retain and advance women in field of cybersecurity; bringing individuals together to share their knowledge and experience, while networking and mentoring.

About Women in Cybersecurity
WiCyS is a community of engagement, encouragement and support for women in cybersecurity. The WiCyS initiative was launched in 2013 with support from a National Science Foundation grant (Award #1303441, Lead PI: Dr. Ambareen Siraj, Computer Science, Tennessee Tech University) for a collaborative project between Tennessee Tech, University of Memphis and Jackson State Community College. Through the WiCyS community and events to recruit, retain and advance women in cybersecurity,  they expect to raise awareness about the importance and nature of cybersecurity careers and hope to generate interest among students to consider cybersecurity as a viable and promising career option.
