Alonda Williams Bellevue College Director of MarketingWilliams brings depth and breadth of experience to essential college program

Bellevue College (BC) has named Alonda Williams as the new director of marketing, community relations and enrollment management marketing. In this role, she will provide leadership and supervision for all marketing and communications outreach, enrollment and retention marketing and the college’s ongoing 50th anniversary celebration.

“Alonda brings an impressive cache of experience that will contribute significantly to the college’s strategic foci on enrollment management, community partnerships and brand enhancements,” said Dr. Gayle Barge, Vice President of Institutional Advancement at BC. “Her diverse business acumen provides an excellent foundation for leading our marketing and creative team.”

Williams, a seasoned marketing professional with over 20 years of marketing leadership experience with several Fortune 50 companies, comes to Bellevue College from Microsoft where she most recently served as Senior Director, Education Marketing.  In this role, she and her team were responsible for building and executing integrated marketing campaigns for IT Pro, Teacher and Student in both Higher Ed and K-12. During her tenure, Microsoft developed marketing partnerships with NBC Education Nation, ISTE, EDUCAUSE, Scripps National Spelling Bee, and over 25 Colleges and Universities including several Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Prior to joining Microsoft, Williams worked in senior-level marketing positions for Qualcomm, Verizon Wireless and Bertelsmann. 

“It’s been my goal to transition to a role in higher education.  In this position, I will be able to bring together my personal passion and professional experience while also contributing to the great work the college has done,” said Williams. “This is such an exciting time at BC and I am thrilled to be able to help the college as we move to the next level.” 

Williams spent three years as an adjunct professor at Rutgers University, where she taught undergraduate management courses and graduate-level CRM courses.  She currently serves on the faculty of City University where she teaches leadership, entrepreneurship and human resources courses both in the U.S. and internationally. 

Outside of the office, Williams is a celebrated children’s book author and an active volunteer with several local and national organizations, including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Jack and Jill of America, Hope Washington, and I URBAN TEEN. She also serves as an Arts Commissioner for the City of Redmond. 

Williams earned her undergraduate degree from Montclair State University, her MBA from Rutgers University, and has gone through executive leadership training at Duke and UCLA.
