Lindy's Homemade Italian Ice LemonLindy’s Homemade Italian Ice Contains Ingredients I Don’t Allow in My Home

I recently responded to a call for bloggers to get free samples to try Lindy’s Homemade Italian Ice and was sent some coupons to redeem in our local grocery store.  Being a healthy eater and careful about what types of food we have in our house, I was kind of excited about it and it is advertised to be fat-free and gluten-free.

When I got to the grocery store and checked it out, I was extremely disappointed.  The second ingredient listed, after water, (the highest concentration) is high fructose corn syrup – and the third is sugar.  High fructose corn syrup is possibly the worst ingredient in soda pop, which carries much of the blame for the obesity epidemic in the US.  Sugar is another fattening killer that I try to avoid whenever possible.

Lindy's Homemade Italian IceWhile the name Lindy’s Homemade has great marketing appeal, it is obviously not homemade and is just a downright lie.  I hate being lied to, but when they say their products made of high fructose corn syrup and sugar are fat free – that is just intolerable.  They may not contain fat, but the ingredients will certainly turn to fat when consumed by humans.

Not to beat a lame horse and expose the problems with some of the other ingredients, but I would certainly not feed these products to anyone I care about.  I definitely care enough about my health that I won’t consume them – and would not feed them to my children.

Still the same, if you don’t really care about your health and what you put into your body, I do have some free coupons for the first person who shares this post and sends me an email with their name and mailing address.  I’m sure the product is tasty – with 21g or 4 tablespoons of sugars, it would be hard not to be.
