Care2 petition is calling on the California Horse Racing Board to shut down racing at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club after racing horse Irish Spring died from injuries sustained from a fall during a race over the weekend. Two weeks prior a second horse died after going into cardiac arrest while training. The Care2 petition has gathered 18,000 signatures since launch.
Care2 Petition To Shut Down Del Mar Thoroughbred Club
“These horses are pushed to and beyond their physical limits, all for sport,” states the Care2 petition. “Not only that, but a lot of people are making a great deal of money off the backs of horses like Irish Spring. They are beat to go faster and harder than they should.”
According to horsefund.org, “Numbers from the Jockey Club equine injury database covering a one-year period show that one of every 500 Thoroughbred starts at North American racetracks results in a fatal injury. This represents about 800 deaths. Reporting is voluntary with 85% of race tracks participating.” Continue reading “Care2 Petition To Shut Down Del Mar Thoroughbred Club”

Looking for Strategic Partnerships for Skiing Baby Project
This post first appeared on a LinkedIn ski professionals group pages and then on Awesome Travel Guides. Thought it should also be posted here directly on Ava Kalea’s site so that her friends, family and fans will all know what she is up to.
Ava Kalea was a year old on 9/7/17 and we are looking forward to getting her on the snow this coming season. She received her first pair of skis for her first birthday and has been watching lots of YouTube videos of other babies skiing.
Considering spending a full month (or more) in Salt Lake City to ski at Park City or some of the other local resorts. Figuring 30 days on the snow will do her (and her parents) well.
Could potentially get Epic, Mountain Collective, or MAX passes and do some traveling – possibly having our baby ski in every resort on a pass …
We will be filming the entire process and progress – and posting daily on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat. This a really great opportunity for ski and travel partners to get the word out about how great they are for family skiing and snowboarding.
Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on how to hook up some partnerships and/or the best way(s) to get Ava Kalea up to speed?
Seattle Sounders Sell-Out to Oregon Liquor Company

Hood River Distillers, Inc., the largest and oldest importer, distiller, producer and bottler of distilled spirits in the Northwest, announced that Pendleton Midnight, its super-premium, blended Canadian whisky, will be named the Official Whisky of Seattle Sounders FC, the defending Major League Soccer (MLS) champions.
