Bellevue is Fortunate to Have a Developer Like John Su

I just followed a link on the Bellevue Downtown Association website to a website for Vertigo, which closed some time ago.  I was surprised the link was still up, so I actually called the number on the website and it had been disconnected – I was hoping somehow it had come back to life or something.  After getting “this number has been disconnected or is no longer in service” message, I started thinking about what’s happening with the space that Vertigo used to occupy in the 989 Elements building, built by John Su and Su Development.

That took me to a google search for Su Development and the elements “Beyond Just Living” website – which is very nice.  Simple, complete and with some amazing photos.  The photo on the home page reminded me of how uniquely designed Su’s properties are.  In addition to 989 elements which contains a nice mix of apartments and retail, Su has recently come on the market with two more very unique buildings directly south of the 989 building.  They seem to slope down 112th Ave NE into NE 8th which is basically the entrance to downtown Bellevue for many traveling here via Interstate 405.  It’s a very cool look and every day I drive by them, I realize how lucky we are that these properties were developed by someone with great vision – someone who really cares about his city and what it looks like.

It’s also very good to see someone as smart as Su to continue to build right through what many are calling the great recession.  He has continued to provide jobs for the local economy which is crucial now and the housing downtown is also going to help downtown Bellevue’s vibrancy I know he is a brilliant and connected guy with

Su Development’s current project is soma (which stands for a simple, open, modern attitude), located at 10701 Main Street in Bellevue. Comprised of two wings of apartments with retail on the street level, it is also a very cool design.  It’s also being touted as Bellevue’s first geo-thermal apartments and very green.  Their website also brags on a walk score of 96 and encourages potential residents to ditch their cars.  soma is still under construction, but they are pre-leasing apartments.

Thank you to John Su and Su Development for building buildings that are uniquely built – nice to look at, fun to visit and (probably) even more fun to inhabit.  We are very fortunate to have you here in Bellevue!
