While browsing the social media job listings at Mashable, I found a job that I am qualified for, would be good at and would enjoy a lot. The title is Senior New Media Manager at Citrix. The position is based in Santa Barbara, so I would have to move back to California – which I am more than willing to do for an opportunity like this. It would involve needing to travel back and forth between there and Bellevue as often as possible (at least monthly), so I can spend time with Jackie Kennedy. I wouldn’t want her to forget her papa. I would definitely miss seeing her every day, but it is a great opportunity – and I know that she would appreciate me having a job …
Citrix is a great company, with excellent products like GoToMyPC, GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar and I think it would be a lot of fun to help them continue to build their brands through the use of social media. The position is fully immersed in exactly what I am looking for – community building, corporate evangelism and developing and training on social media policy. This is one role that could be a perfect fit!
After applying (perhaps backward), I went to LinkedIn and searched for the position. It took some finding, but it was there and I discovered that I am a 2nd degree connection to Kim McKee who is a Citrix recruiter and the person who posted the position. I promptly sent her a connection request, which I hope she is kind enough to grant in conjunction for an interview for this job! Wish me luck …
