Great news – we finally nailed down April 15, 2010 for as the date for the Social Media 201 conference to be held at the Microsoft Conference Center in Redmond. The website is currently being built, but details including agenda, speakers and registration should be up next week at SocialMedia201.com. Confirmed speakers include Eric Weaver and Darren Williger, amongst other social media all-stars. I’ve been working on this event with Mike Whitmore and Fresh Consulting. Sponsors to date include Microsoft Local Engagement Team, Comcast Business Class, Fresh Consulting and Eastside Entrepreneurs. There is still room for more sponsors … please contact me if interested.
Also on April 15th will be the day that I finally get to harvest my hair for the benefit for disadvantaged children with medical challenges and Locks of Love. (it’s been a long 2 1/2 years) This will be an evening hair harvesting / networking / fundraising event for the benefit of Overlake Service League which has been helping children and families in Bellevue for 99 years. Everyone is invited to attend, it will be a free event with an optional donation at the door and an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for prizes donated by local businesses. The duty of shaving my hair will go to the winning bidder of an upcoming auction on Ebay. We are also actively recruiting others to donate their hair at the event and will arrange for free haircuts/styling for those who donate.
The plan is to invite local wineries to come and pour their wines for attendees. All proceeds with go to OSL. Venue to be announced soon.
If you are interested in donating food, drink, or raffle prizes or are interested in bidding in the Ebay auction, please let me know.
