More Great Support on First Day of SM Employment Campaign

There’s been a lot more great support of my personal social media campaign toward employment on Twitter, Facebook and good comments on this blog.  I’ll try to recognize all those kind people in a post a little later in the day.

So far to my knowledge, nobody has send me any leads or referrals to any job, nor given me a recommendation (easy to do on LinkedIn) - but I hope those will start coming in soon. There have been a number of people interested in my job search method, as they are in the same situation and looking for work.  I assume they are taking a more traditional, old-school and passive approach, while I am trying to engage, create conversation and allow my friends and connections to help me find a great job.  Once I do secure the right position, everyone who helped along the way will be able to feel like they played a special part – and all of you will have.

One person, Lewis Lin, @interviewcoach of Twitter, sent me an email asking me to help him spread the word about his free event, “10 Proven Ways to Ace the Interview & Get the Dream Job” on Feb 4th at the Mercer Island Library.  Ironically, I don’t think he even knows about my social media campaign for employment.  If you are also looking for work and are not comfortable interviewing, this would probably be a great event to attend.  I’ve had and held so many interviews (from both sides of the desk) in my life, that I feel like I interview very well (although sometimes I’m probably a lot more honest than most are in those types of situations).
