Thank You to Members of “The Mane Event” Planning Committee

On Saturday afternoon, we had the first meeting of the organizing committee for what has become known as “The Mane Event” (coined by Loma Gregg).  We met at Pearl in Bellevue for happy hour and got a lot accomplished.  I would like to thank everyone who showed up – including (in order of appearance):  Loma Gregg of AllNightHappyHour.com, MaryBoisselle of Ace of Dates, SabrIna Matson of SLM Consulting and John Kelso of John Kelso Consulting.

The Mane Event is the party where I will finally (after growing it for 2 1/2 years) get to harvest my hair for the benefit of disadvantaged children with medical challenges and Locks of Love (which is the hair charity of choice of Seattle Children’s Hospital).  We’re hoping we can make it a free event, while encouraging donations at the door and purchase of raffle tickets for some great prizes, with ALL proceeds to be donated to the fund for families at Seattle Children’s Bellevue location.

Our group decided that the right (or chore) to buzz my head should go to the winning bidder on Ebay (the auction will be listed as soon as a date and location has been decided).

Everybody in the group has taken on some tasks, but there are plenty to go around if anyone else wants to be involved.  If you’d like to help please join the group at Eastside Entrepreneurs.  We’re still looking for a great location for the event, raffle prizes, VIP guests and other “hair farmers” who would like to have their hair cut and donated on the night of the party.  Donations of food and liquid refreshments are also encouraged and appreciated.  If you or someone you know would like to contribute to the party or become a sponsor, please let us know as soon as possible.  You can contact me at 425-502-5633 or JoeConnector(at)Gmail.com.

Another thing that was fun about the afternoon at Pearl, was that my friend Salvatore Lembo, owner of Firenze Ristorante and Pizzeria Guido, showed up and I had the opportunity to introduce Salvatore to Mikel Rogers, one of the owners of Pearl.  They are both nice guys and I’m sure they could swap some industry war stories.

Another great guy I bumped into while at Pearl, was Bijal Shaw of Woodhouse Family Cellars in Woodinville.  I think our EastsideWine.com group will be having a wine tasting event at Woodhouse in the next couple of months.  It would be cool if they could come and pour some of their fine wines for attendees at The Mane Event as well.
